How much of the movie is non-English? Am I meant to use subtitles, if I don't understand Japanese?

Subtitles are provided by default. However, I found them to be almost unreadable on my average-sized TV. I had to almost sit with my face on the screen and read them to my guests.

Very little of the movie is in Japanese, and the subtitles for those scenes are very appropriate.
