I concur with this person. That film is an abomination, a crime against humanity. This film is like Mary Poppins in comparison to that one.

It had quite a lot of blood and violence, I'll give you that. I don't usually like horror films with this much gore. I prefer atmosphere and suspense more so I don't really watch films like this too often. That being said, there is much, much worse out there. I think it's one of those films where it might help to use the "Last House on the Left" method and keep repeating to yourself "It's only a movie...only a movie...only a movie..."

Burn, witch! Burn, witch! Burn! Burn! Burn!

To the OP, I have seen movies that were way more sick. I have also seen movies with graphic violence for no good reason. Maniac had a reason. They were trying to get you in the mind of a homicidal maniac. Try watching the Hostel movies. Those movies are sick. Try watching the Friday the 13th remake. That's sick. Try watching Only God Forgives. That's a sick movie. The movie Don't Go in the House was very sick too. The whole subject matter of how the killer was abused as a kid and how he killed women was utterly sick. There are a lot more. Maniac is not the worst and at least they had a purpose with Maniac.

the original one?

Yes, I was referring to the line from the trailer. "To avoid fainting, keep repeating 'it's only a movie.'"

Sickest film ever, hmm... Maybe you should try Eat The Schoolgirl, Womens Flesh: My Red Guts, Niku Daruma, Orozco The Embalmer, Men Behind The Sun, Snuff 102... etc, etc.

Can I add Human Centipede to the list? But really, movies like these you've given are trying to push the gore boundaries and they way overdo it. Maniac, on the other hand, had relatively fewer and shorter gory scenes than the typical slasher movie, or at least modern movies in the Saw vein. But the scenes here were uniquely stomach-turning, including the scalping and the stabbings.

I think what got me about the stabbings was that the woman killed in the parking lot kept squirming so the knife went in at strange angles you know had to hurt extra. Like one blow that went in her back but must have come out the boob.

This is the first movie to affect me in awhile and I loved it!

Yes, I agree. The pov shot of Frank ralphing into the toilet was because he was sick.
