Lol it was cool but also didn't make sense because it went against Frank's MO of collecting scalps. Of course Savini would make his head exploding look better than anything he's ever done haha
It was a cool special effects brag bit in the original but it really wouldn't have had a place here aside from being a random shotgun-to-the-head scene. Kind of like the shower head scene in the original My Bloody Valentine. Easily the most creepy and effective scene in the film but absent in the remake because there simply was not an appropriate place for it unless it were to be a totally random scene put in for no reason except to show a head impaled on a shower head. =\
