So when Robyn passed out at Al´s house...?

Was she raped by him? It´s pretty obvious that she was drugged, so did he rape her? I assume the answer is yes, but what do you all think?

reply

Probably. After what we learn about Al in the last episode, combined with the fact that he obviously is sexually attracted to Robin, put a roofie in her wine, and took off her pants, I think it's fair to say he probably did rape her.

Or maybe not, maybe he just likes drugging women he's interested in, taking off their pants, put them in his bed, and then do nothing just to *beep* with her head.

After seeing the ending, I asked myself the same question. It's highly probable, but we'll never know for sure.

"Don't like me? Then jog on, my friend."

reply

Hard to know - but Robin does say "Why do I not feel like thanking you."

reply

Personally, I think she is too old for him and not his type. He probably roofied her, so he could put her in his bed with her panties on and claim he was a gentleman.

reply

Well, if he did rape her, wouldn't she have some sort of idea that something didn't feel quite right "down there"? I'm going to say no - he did not rape her.

reply

No, that's not neccessarily the case. If he was careful then everything would feel fine the next day. Tearings (that's what would feel 'not quite right' as you say) are only caused by being rough which is normally the case when the victim is conscious and struggles.

They've been used to raping unconscious kids without them noticing anything strange so I'm sure he would be able to rape an adult woman in that state without leaving marks or tears.

reply

Interesting. I hadn't thought of it that way, and I appreciate the insight!

I believe Al was Robin's fiancé. She told johno she calle off her engagement shortly after leaving Al's house. This would explain the look of dismay on Al's face when he finds Robin in the tent with Johno, why he asks Robin if she's in love and later when he asks Robin to marry him and have a baby. This is Al's attempt to get Robin back after calling off the engagement.

reply

Robin's fiance was in Australia and was the chap she spoke to at the start of the show on the phone.

One thing I cannot stand is intolerance.

Al was a sociopath and one of their tricks is getting people dependent on them. I don't think he raped her but enjoyed knowing the power he had over her and could of. When he kindly reassured her on the boat that she was safe with him. When he was drunk and came on to her before she shot him in the chest. Which was hillarious and a nod to the scene with Tui and Matt when she did the same thing but didn't have the guts to pull the trigger. But Robin sure did. Al underestimated her. These were men who saw women at chattle and dominated them sexually to exploit them and use them.

I actually don't think Al was into sex with children he was just using them to further his sex ring and was a pimp. I think he saw Robin as someone who could save him from his demons but ultimately couldn't. I don't know if he honestly cared about her or wanted her under his thumb.

We don't know that. When Robin came to his house (just before she shot him), he was wearing his teeshirt inside out (we could see the label hanging out). The other guy Robin photographed downstairs was also naked from the waist up.

reply

I'm certain he raped her. No one collapses like that from red wine. Hell, we say Robin still cognizant enough to drive after a damn-near litre of vodka. Al definitely drugged her. Al was a sociopath, and got off on demeaning others (re: his behavior to the teenage baristas at the coffee shop, his domineering personality).

reply

I agree he roofied her,but his intent wasn't to rape her. I think he was trying to show her he was safe with her in his twisted sociopathic logic. That he took care of her trying to gain her trust and romantic interest in him. But Robin was too smart to fall for it.

i agree with this. he wanted a "real" relationship with robin, a "normal" marriage, something that had nothing to do with his pedophile/rape behaviour.
