WAY better than Part 2!

While I am a die-hard fan of the original, I pretty much hated Part 2. It felt cheap, rushed and uneven. When I heard about a 3rd installment I groaned, but checked out the trailer anyways. It peeked my curiosity so I went ahead and gave it a view.

First off, this was a huge improvement over the last installment. Part 2 lacked the serious tone of Part 1, something that made a welcomed return here. What made the original so fantastic in my opinion was the interaction between the characters when the outbreak started. Friendships fall apart, loved ones suddenly mean nothing and survival mode kicks in. Again, this sequel brought back those elements in full force...including a gross-out "love making" scene that puts Rider and Jordan's scene to shame.

My only gripe was the scenes at the laboratory. I like Sean Astin, but a lot of those scenes just felt like padding to get it to feature length. The stuff with the kids on the beach suffering was much more interesting and the crazy gooey gory effects made up for the slower parts.

If you love the original, and didn't care for Part 2...then this sequel is for you. A nice return to form for the fans.

Yes, I agree. Not sure what the budget was for this, but the production values appear to have been way higher than part 2. The story is, as expected, kind of lame. But the acting is pretty darn good all around and the gore effects are deliciously squishy.

I particularly enjoyed the two chicks battling it out(or I should say ripping each other apart) at the end, it was much better than part 2, not that this was a masterpiece, but it was fun and entertaining enough as long as you don't think too hard.

reply

It was better than part 2. Sean Astin was unnecessary to the movie.

i personally disagree. i love part 1, also loved 2 for completely different reasons, but i thought the 3rd installment was rather mediocre. the acting was the worst out of the three, (spoiler) the twist ending i found rather odd than shocking (as soon as the mouse leaves the glass cell you know that they will get back to this), the teenage sub story was cheesy and unnecessary and most of all it lacked the dark humor of the first two installments. well, they tried, (spoiler) with the dildo killing scene, but i found that also rather odd than actually funny.

i was truly looking forward to parts 3 and 4, but with the same dude that made part 3 (0) attached to part 4, i will be watching it of course, but i won't hold my breath.

also, i have to heavily disagree to the statement that this brings it back to the qualities of part 1. the first installment was pure eli roth goodness. first half character development and then sheer terror with blackest humor to it.
the third installment is a somewhat solid installment, but leaves behind roth's original one.

I did not love part 2 (I rated it 4 out of 10, I think), but I agree with you on the rest.

cool, thanks. :D

Not even close. Besides the gore, this sucked.

Yet to see it, but it's pretty much impossible to be WORSE than Part 2. One of the worst movies ever

It actually was. This simply was a stab in the heart as a fan of the Cabin Fever movies but then again what was I expecting from a third movie? I gave it a 2/10 for the amazing gore effects and cool kills alone. Oh and a girl shows it off, that's it.

reply

You can't be serious. You do know Part 2 was re-written several times after Eli dropped out (cuz it sucked) and Ti West couldn't salvage the mess either. THAT one was a stab in the heart. It made it a big joke. Atleast this one had a solid direction.

reply

i actually liked how part 2 came out. it was different approach, more a true gore comedy than anything else.

and yes, the 3rd installment could not be further away from the original film in any way.

Cabin Fever 2 is Ti West's second best film. Get a reality check. If it was a Sam Raimi film made in the 80's everyone would be praying and masturbating to it like some prepubescent 11 year old. This film has horrible actors and there isn't a saving grace. Cabin Fever 1 and 2 were fun, this was trash.

I strongly advise you to see a therapist and get mental help if you think Cabin Fever 2 is trash.

reply

No I wouldn't. It's legitimately horrible. you get a reality check

I was telling retrohorrorfan to get a reality check, not you.

reply

I know. I just don't like you, I don't like how fake you are, and I don't like how rude you are to other people. So I have zero problems telling you to get a reality check, because you actually do need one.

Also, 3 kicked 2's ass

UMM, ok?? And get my name right. "The Roost" was Ti's best film, followed by "House of The Devil". CF2 is nowhere close. And I don't even like Sam Raimi so why bother comparing?

2/10 is still better than Cabin Fever 2

just because you all don't like good movies is no reason to put down Cabin Fever 2. Lots of gore, blood and runs just like a classy 80s horror, flick. This one however I do admit was alot of fun as well, I miss Deputy Winston however

i definitely agree! the original cabin fever is a fantastic film, but the 2nd one is honestly one of the worst horror films i have ever saw in my entire life. this one is a lot better than part 2 though, still not as good as the original but a great film.
