I can suspend a lot of disbelief...

But at the very end when they're showing the initial spread of the infection I simply cannot make myself believe that the mouse jumped 4 1/2 feet up from the floor into the blonde doctor's lab coat pocket undetected. I know they can jump, but that was just absurd.

That's all.

And now that I posted that... I'm reading in another thread where smitthhh said "I rolled my eyes when she dropped the mouse. Pretty obvious foreshadowing." I must have completely missed that part - the only place I saw it was at the end and it time appeared to be moving forward... but I could very well be wrong.

The scenes that run during the credits are going backwards.

I know, but not 100% of the time. (Example) His blood was dripping ONTO the mouse... and then it ran out from under the bed. That's why I got confused.

You should go back and watch again. The blood is clearly going back UP to his hand and the mouse is getting whiter, less blood on it. The only part going in forward motion I believe is Porter (Sean Astin) in the small boat headed onto a beach.

So you're telling me that the scene where the infected person tries to shoot a handgun, and the recoil rips his hand off and embeds it and the gun into said person's eye socket somehow did not already have you to this point?

reply

I'm just saying that the scene I mentioned is the one that really jumped out at me as completely preposterous.

Now that you mention it though, it is interesting that there were no other references throughout the movie of the flesh-eating virus compromising bone, yet when it was convenient (the scene you mentioned, and the girl-fight scene) bone deterioration became an issue.

This movie is just full of scenes and plot points like that. That scene at the end where the woman figures out that the water's been poisoned - and then they cut and you can see that there's blood visible in the water, it's really obvious. They didn't notice that? She drank it without seeing that blood? And the guy who did it just left the syringe sitting out in the open in the kitchen. Why not toss it over the side, drop it in the garbage, something.

Why would you even drink a water bottle that had been opened. Especially after going through that. They know that guy is a carrier. I wouldnt let him touch me or something I would ingest.

reply

He could've injected the blood into the bottles with the syringe without opening them. Not that it would matter either way, the people in this movie were stupid.
