Why don't they contact the US embassy?!
Like the title says. When her husband got missing and the police won't help, why didn't she contact the US embassy to put pressure on the local authorities?!

He'd certainly ask the consulate to help. Of they wouldn't, then he'd hire some PIs/mercenaries to beat the bushes.
And $100,000!!! You'd think some of the bad guy's stooges would think about ratting him out for that.
And the final part, when Silvio's gang is searching the village for Ava, absolutely no one thinks to rat her out. Even when their kids are threatened.
Why would they all risk their lives to help this gringa?
It might have been nice if Ava had told Manny at the end that he'd get the $100,000 reward, he certainly earned it. But she just sails off into the sunset.
While I'm at it: when Ava rescues Derek in the hospital, she has Silvio and his gang at gunpoint. Than she just walks away, even after Silvio told her his gang would kill her.
Why didn't she
1) take their phones
2) knock them out/and or break their legs
3) kill him? She just killed the police chief for revenge, but Silvio, the guy most responsible, she just leaves hale and hearty.
So obviously necessary for the plot so he can keep chasing her. And he's uninjured so they can have a big fight scene at the end.
