nonsensical plot

Some decent action from GC but a silly plot... Including..
- His whole family seems totally disinterested in truly finding their son and gives up and LEAVES despite obvious evidence that something fishy is going on??? Even if they truly believed GC was in on the plot, its unbelievable that they would give up.
- Just how did main bad guy with cancer know that husband was a perfect match and when? Before zip line? Then its stupid to do the whole zip line thing where this perfect match could have easily been killed in the fall (bye bye perfect match), why not just kidnapping him at hotel or where ever. After zip line? Really? Kidnap all injured Americans who are very unlikely to match being of very different racial background just on the off chance of a match. And match testing takes a lot of time, not just 30mins (gap between arrival at hospital).
- Chief cop allows himself to be killed over a lie (husband is dead, doc's mistake), goes down quietly... Right...
- Manny saves the day even though he set up the whole initial slam to begin with, he was so afraid yet not afraid to totally help GC (who sleeps in his bed???) And main bad guy doesn't kill Manny at first chance? Manny gets all hugs in the end!
- jamming a big needle into husband's back is no way to extract stem cells. Why would GC even allow that whole procedure to go that far but then stop it later... Not like it was a clean getaway for them. Pretending to be doc's assistant who gets cheerfully introduced to and felt up by main bad guy? Really?
- the whole way that the island cops handled her especially after she assaulted one of them once then later escaped the boat by taking out another (and swam back? Right...), etc, not credible.

I dunno, seems like the writers could have done a lot better...

I had the same exact gripes. I don't blame it all on the writers though. I think this has to do with either the director, producers or the studio not wanting to slow the pace of the movie down and heavily editing the screenplay. The problem is they think fans of this genre are stupid and will buy anything just to see some good action and ass-kicking. All they did was make the story seem stupid and sloppy.

Otherwise I also agree it was a pretty decent action movie but just annoyingly stupid story.

... and why wouldn't she kill all the bad guys in the hospital right there.

that bugged me the most. She could have avoided lots of trouble later if she just offed the main guy then. she had no scruples about killing smaller fry. it was contrived.

This was the most ridiculous and unbelievable part despite there being plenty of bad scenes in the story. She nearly loses her husband and nearly gets murdered herself and she kills various people who helped the main villain... but she leaves the main villain who did this to her husband and her perfectly alive... which puts her and her husband in more danger.

Don't forget how the bad guy is shot up with Propofol and shrugs it off. LOL

And she's torturing guys from the ambulance who may NOT have understood English. But of course it turns out they did.

The plot was silly.

I think you took it the wrong way, bro.
- Derek's family was convinced that it was all Ava's sham to make him disappear/killed so that she could get his money. The inspector mentions that Derek's family has filed a petition against Ava for his disappearance. They left because they were almost sure that Ava had killed Derek and there is no point looking for him.
- The main bad guy didn't plan the zip line accident. When he was taken at the hospital, it was the doctor who realized that Derek's bone marrow matches with the bad guy. So they cover up the whole accident with the help of the inspector (who owed the doctor). The paramedics actually took Derek to the hospital itself. But when the doctor realized he can use Derek, he tells his staff to delete all of his records. The accident was not a plan. It happened in real. The plot began after Derek was admitted and they covered it up.
- Manny didn't know a thing about the plot. He and his friend JoJo where trying to make some extra money by letting Ava and Derek on the zip line on Monday, which was actually a holiday for the zip line guys. He and JoJo didn't utter a word because Manny was an illegal immigrant and JoJo did not want to lose his job.
- The police wanted to be quiet about Ava and that's why she was treated nicely. Because, if they had made a case, it was sure that the American officials would intervene, thus blowing the whole cover up.
