The most pathetic excuse for a bunch of soldiers

Spoiler!

Wow in the end everyone told their officer its "not our war". Officer has no choice but to let them go home. The End.

A friend got shot, and they had to do x number of patrols and 1 jeep busted and that was all there is to it. Calling it quits then. Thats called joining the ARMY. If the director wanted to portray that they had to go through hell for them to say, "Thats it Im going home to mommy!" then it didnt work. All I saw was nothing out of the ordinary for a typical soldier. They should all be court marshalled for treason. I didnt care for a single one of them either.

Oh and why do you feel the need to have "An answer to Hurt Locker"?. Borrowing other movies' success is not cool. And even THAT movie was crap.

It seemed like one cry baby private took control of the patrol by the end and the captain allowed him to do it. I suppose it really was a small group of "soldiers" who are really just regular guys unable to deal with the adversity war creates. I wouldn't compare this so much to The Hurt Locker, more like Generation Kill and Restrepo. Maybe it was a bit interesting by showing the anxiety and frustration of being in a war and it was unusual because the soldiers didn't bottle up their courage or bite the bullet and get it done like in other movies but simply quit. If "Smudge" and the others typify British soldiers, I would be worried.

Sounds like the soldiers actually seemed to have a brain and didn't want to die for nothing in a foreign land so that a bunch of multi-national oil companies and steal the mineral deposits of Afghanistan. It appears that the soldiers seem to have more brains that the 'patriotic' idiots in the US who come home in a body bag or the moronic OP who seems to have misunderstood the point that this movie is AGAINST the war - and not for it, unlike the majority of dreck that Hollywood produces.

Where's all these oil wells and mineral deposits in Afghanistan then ?

reply

No oil wells, but Afghanistan does have rare mineral deposits.

The Chinese got the concessions for extracting these mineral deposits from the post-Taleban Afghan Government. So basically, the USA fought a war to enrich China, good going I'd say.
