awesome zzzzzz fest

Totally wasted over an hour of my time watching this drivel, no plot no action no sense, aimless wandering about, occasional shooting of the guns when no-one could even SEE any enemy, YAWN MASSIVELY.

The genre is drama and war, you cretin.
Go rewatch Iron Man for the 100th time.

It was terrible. Failed to make a statement, failed to entertain, failed to engage. The movie attempts to pass itself off as documentary and comes off as an amateurish attempt to discredit the military.

What do you think actual combat is like? This, or Transformers/Battleship/Pacific Rim? Like I said, a war film for grown-ups.

reply

Just stick to crap like 'The Expendables' you brainless buffoon.

Pretty much like real counter insurgency combat. Hmmm, perhaps that is the point?

It explains why people so readily embrace bang bang boom boom Hurt Locker, easy to understand and connect the dots.

Makes one more thankful of that boring 9-5 Office job, at least at the end of the day one can go home or enjoy what the town offers.

I think this movie might just represent what it's like to be on patrol in Afghanistan 9 out of 10 times. A lot of aimless wandering, waiting around, getting limited support from the Base, limited supplies, and the psychological effect of when patrols get overstretched, instead of relieved after a certain number of days out in the field.

Then occasionally there's that "enemy encounter" where two sides fire at each other without being in direct line-of-sight. It's a wonder anyone ever actually hits a target, or gets hit.

War at the time of the Romans, of the Crusades, of Genghis Khan, and even Napoleon, might've been bloody and brutal. But at least the enemies actually had to face each other eye-to-eye.
