Oh god.. another western movie about Persia..
Considering we have already been depicted as orc like barbarians, war mongering extremists etc..
Im not sure how we will be depicted in this movie. Perhaps as the devil itself?

Go read the book. I'm Iranian and the physician is one of my personal favourites. I have not seen this movie even though I would really like to, but the book is respectful towards all races and religions.
shareI have not read the book but watched the movie. It gets worse and worse. The book maybe awesome but this movie isn't. Hope they have explained all the missing links in the book(some unexplainable jumps).
shareThe movie is an offense to the book. I can't understand why Noah Gordon allowed this version and even his name added to the credits.
shareWell the only movie who really treated us properly was Prince of Persia.
The problem isn't us being barbarians, the problem is us being depicted as arabs and muslim extremists..
I was a bit annoyed by the subplot of the mullahs taking over power. But it is more portrayed as hateful men scheming and abusing religion for political power, not religious fanaticism. I guess the middle ages where crap to live in anywhere, be it England, Europe or the Islamic countries.

Islamic countries were less crap than Europe during the Middle Ages. Read The Book of One Thousand and One Nights. Just one hint: people there used to take baths, and not only when it rained, as the knights in shining armor did (well, maybe there was a Christian exception to poor hygiene in the Byzantine Empire, the place from where the Islamic world learned Greek philosophy and science).

England IS in Europe ffs....

Well said LGCipher. Iranians were forcefully converted to Islam though. But to this day many Iranians still are Muslim, which is truly disturbing. After 1400 years of tragedy because of Islam, specially the last 35 years under the rule of the Arab-descendant Muslim mullahs, many Iranians still haven't learned a thing and still are Muslim. Sad beyond belief.
I myself am an Iranian, but not from a Muslim family.
An ironic thing about this movie is that it shows Avicenna as a Muslim, Avicenna was not religious at all, and all his life was persecuted for being a blasphemer and having anti-Islamic views. Just like many other Persian scientists of that age which the Muslims blatantly call "Islamic golden age", a ridiculous joke and a theft of Persian heritage and history. Other notable Persian scientists who were persecuted for being anti-Islamic are Zakaria Razi and Khayyam.

F A C T
he is iranian, read some book, google it and .... before say nonsense carp.
sharelol what a joke you Arabs are, absolutely pathetic. Written facts and history show that Avicenna along with every single so hilariously called "muslim scientist" were Persian. He wrote his books both in Persian and Arabic and Greek.
That is the F A C T kid, not your laughable delusions ;)
How possible you're from non-Muslim family if all Iranians forced to Islam ?
sure he was from what we call now Afghanistan-Uzbekistan.
Abu Ali Al-Hussein bin Abdullah bin Hassan bin Ali bin Sina.
You are wrong, Orcs and Goblins were imagined after Turks, perhaps mongols as well. But their motives are usually similar to those of Nazi.
Hey, Soldier. Do you know who's in command here?
Don't take it personally. Western movies about Western History are neither better nor more accurate
