James Franco and the N word

Not a serious enough movie to drop that line. To have a white dude use the n word I should hope that it's at least something that will be meaningful (meaning that the movie in it's entirety was moving---not the word in and of itself) or maybe even critically acclaimed. But to just throw that in there, was super unnecessary and it seemed to me that the actors were just having a laugh at the movie (in general), and wanted to "say" it b/c they knew they could get away with it.

Oh, for *beep*'s sake...

He plays a fictional character and that fictional character does things that are far worse than using foul language.

Did I miss something? I didnt notice him saying the n-word at all. In fact, I was thinking "HM, thats interesting... Francos character is totally ghetto and was the only white guy in his hood, but he doesnt use the n-word."

Yeah, he doesn't say it at all in the film, the OP's saying that the film didn't have any brass to have Franco say the N-word in the film. I thought it was cool that he DIDN'T say it, if he did it would've been unnecessary if it was done for just shock value.

He actually does say it. In the scene where he says "LOOK AT ALL MAH SHYTT" lol

I actually liked that Alien didn't use it all the time. I think he uses it, like, twice. The time I noticed it mainly was after he had his first onscreen confrontation with Gucci Mane, when he was back at his house venting. Never OK for a white guy to use the n-word, imo, but he was clearly angry/frustrated in that scene and let it slip out. Whatevs. It's not like I look to Alien for my cues on how to conduct myself in day to day life.

he said it out of frustration and anger.

It seems like James Franco always wanted to be black and be like his friends. When he was being rejected his anger was coming out and it came out in nasty ways that's all.

But its okay for Tarantino to write it in pretty much every other line in his films...
