A Surprisingly Romantic Film with a Tremendous Ending as Well

Yesterday i found myself describing the film, blow by blow, to My Love, who missed seeing the DVD with me. As i related it, i realized that the film is really more of a love story than anything else, though there is a parallel focus on personal revenge and its potential for self healing and destructiveness.

I think this director is a very talented fellow.(Yes, many of us knew that with Girl WDT or before.) He has chosen lead actors who make a real difference in the success of the film. The silences, the looks, the pauses, they really show their unique talents there. They have the ability to communicate deep sadness, empathy, and a very tiny glimmer of hope. And their chemistry together is palpable. The script is tight and the pacing reasonable.

The ending, the last words spoken, was one of the best i have ever seen, and gives you a lot to discuss.

Agreed. Powerful relationship between Victor and Beatrice. Far from a traditional love story, both wounded characters, who end up affecting each other's lives much more than you would've thought at the beginning.
And you're right, the last exchange between Victor and Darcy, while brief, is intense, and mirrors the opening of the movie beautifully.

Yep! The relationship between the two main characters was actually my favorite part of the film.

Who's going to believe a talking head? Get a job in a sideshow.
