Worst movie i saw this year

I cant believe that this movie got 6.5, its so unrealistic and an absolutely cliche.

First, those kids calling monster to a beautiful woman (we barely see the scars in her face, she still looks beautiful), and throwing rocks, i cant believe that kind of thing could really happen. A woman with a few scratches on her face is treated and acts like the Elephant Man.

Second, she saw victor killing a guy, so she decides she wants to know him better to ask him to kill the man responsible for the accident that disfigured her face - LOL

Third, the "love story", no story at all... but still better than Twilight.

Fourth, the moment when Darcy goes to Victors house and knock only one time the door, and only 5 seconds later he decides to break the door down, to see if everything was alright. Victor wasnt at home, but even if he was, he had no time to open the door before his friend breaks everything.

Fifth, all the schemes that Victor had, and in the end, its all about one man killing a whole gang to save the girl... that makes all the plans (that he had in the beginning) pointless.

Sixth, the whole movie is about a man that infiltrates a gang to get revenge for the muder of his wife and daughter, an absolutely cliche.

"This movie was all style and no substance.
The script was sloppy with pointless scenes, plot lines to nowhere and just plain lazy."

So many other things i could said, but this movie doesn't even deserve my time to make it look bad.

Sorry for my english.

I agree that the facial scars were way too minor to represent the sort of reconstructive surgery that she was supposed to have undergone, but that's a problem with the makeup, not the story.

As for the notion that children would never be so cruel, I'm afraid you are being way too idealistic. For the children, teasing her about her looks has nothing to do with her actually being ugly, it's about getting a reaction out of her. Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that children can and do engage in exactly this kind of teasing. And no, I'm not talking about being a victim, I participated in cruel teasing of a lovely young girl when I was in elementary school for no reason other than peer pressure.

Also, when the sprinkler heads go off in Alphonso's house, ALL of them go off... Not how it would happen!
Silly and stupid of me, I know, but I couldn't help myself. Hate when movies get things so wrong and inaccurate.

Nope... In MOVIES all the sprinklers go off at once when there's a fire, but in reality only ONE possibly TWO (depending on the size of the fire) would go off and extinguish the fire, especially in a residential place such as a large house or small office building. I know it's kind of silly picking out something so meaningless in a movie, just couldn't help myself though...believe me, I'm not trying to be a wise ass or a know-it-all, just explaining how it would work in reality.

Pretty much EVERY movie does this same thing though, if you ever take notice.

I/we don't have to see the layout of the rest of the building or even a blue-print...it's about how almost every sprinkler system works. Not every sprinkler would have discharged the ought the building.

Watch the film again. Not all the sprinklers went off. Only the ones where there were explosions and fire. The sprinklers in the bedroom did not go off.

reply

You're quite right; not all sprinkler heads discharge at the same time. Only the ones exposed to enough heat to melt their fusible link or burst the container of liquid and thus release the water would activate.

For one thing, why would you want to destroy many thousands of dollars of possessions, drywall, etc if they're not in danger? For another, there is rarely enough water pressure to service a number of heads at the same time without a pressurizing pump. Building codes may well vary on the requirement from place to place.

While I'm being pedantic, I might as well go all the way and mention one exception that I came across in the 12 years I worked in a related industry (large building electronic systems) - a deluge curtain. This is used to create a separation in something like a large parking garage. I only came across this once, but it was IMPRESSIVE. 5000 gallons of water per minute in a fine spray.

Then you may want to not go to the movies from March to July every year.

reply

Let me tell you what bad is....watch " Gallowwalkers, " " Only God Forgives," and " Killer Joe " and I guarantee this will not be the worst you've seen this year.

reply

WTF?? Killer Joe was awesome, very creative, demented film.

InAPPropriate Comedy, Scary MoVie, Movie 43, Texas Chainsaw 3d, Hangover 3, The Host, and many other movies. This is far from the worst(or the best)

Dammit, I was going to watch The Host tomorrow night. Is it THAT bad ?

Actually, it's quite believable. Kids are averted by scars and could be cruel to those who have them whether those scars disfigure them or not. Not all kids and not all the time, but it happens.

Did you notice she was desperate.? Desperate people can do stupid things. BTW, she didn't approach him right away with her demand. She did get to know him slightly first. So not improbable.

You need to watch with more attention what you are trying to "review" here. You are making no sense, not the movie.
Did you notice it was an action film? So naturally some outlandishness will be there, like a military engineer acting like a black ops commando. But there's plenty of substance and minimum cliche.

You don't like it? Well, that's another story. Don't watch it again. I personally would. I wouldn't say the same about Liam's films though.

To me the worst scene was the one when Victor asks Beatrice to mail the package for him. It was just not believable and clearly forced. I mean, who delegates that kind of task to somebody else? Not to mention that it probably took longer to wait for the girl and explain her what to do than to simply mail it himself. Ohh, and BTW, the envelope was already sealed, how did she changed the content?

The trap scene was kind of nonsensical, too. The dialog appeared to indicate that Alphonse was suspecting Victor, but then nothing really happened.

Victor and his (ex-)father-in-law conversing in English? Really? When both of them are supposed to be Hungarians? No way.

Victor followed by Beatrice without him ever noticing. Seriously? And this while he was back-stabbing a whole mafia gang, so sure, no reason to check if you are ever followed or something like that.

And so on... All in all, not exactly a script to remember...

reply

The trap scene got me, too. I kept thinking, if Alphonse suspects Victor, why doesn't he kill him? That trap scene was conceived by heavy-handed producer who wanted it for the trailer. Bet it's not in the original script.

reply

The trap scene made sense though
He asked Victor to bring him food
Its not like he showed up via wiretap
The Director had us all believe he was caught at first but that wasn't the thing.

reply

A lot of this film is laughable and it's overlong. It's basically a revenge action movie disguised (badly) as something a little more highbrow.

I still quite liked it though.

"Perhaps he's wondering why someone would SHOOT a man before throwing him out of a plane..."

I agree with you. Very slow, only 2 decent actions. My friend is a die-hard fan of Colin Farrell, but I am happy I missed the last 28 mins and Total Recall, also a Farrell flop.

I disagree that Twilight is much better than this mediocre love. Yes Twilight sequel- New Moon was the worst of all!

reply

Most movies are full of nonsensical things like these. Shame about the actors.
