GREAT TV MOVIE!!! Don't Miss It!

Saw this Hallmark made for TV movie tonight at a special screening and I have to say it was fantastic! Based on a true story, this was an entertaining fun, heartwarming and inspiring film that just flys by. A great movie for all ages and a must see. I can't wait for a second viewing once it airs on tv.

The cast was fantastic and so believable I had a hard time deciphering which young actors were truly 'Special Ed' and which were just acting! Each character was more unique than the next where I found myself falling in love with each of them. John Corbett grounded the young cast and was a joy as always to watch. It was a School of Rock movie for Space Camp!

Over all I would give this film a 9 for a made for tv family movie. A great entertaining fun story with a great message.

... End of line.

Same here; it looks great so far. Already set to tape the rebroadcast on Hallmark this weekend.

Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle "Dixie"?

I watched A Smile as big as the moon last Sunday night and I loved it

As The Critic (Jon Lovitz' cartoon character) says, if you can see the original or the remake, see the original! That would be SpaceCamp from 1986. Much better in every way.

As someone already explained, this is an original, not a remake.
I loved it, a very uplifting movie. The cast was great, John Corbett has been a favorite of mine since Northern Exposure. My question is, how many of the students are special needs individuals?

I asked myself the same question when I was watching the special screening at fox studios last week. Then I got to meet the entire cast at the after party and only 2 of all of the kids are special needs. The one is obvious down syndrome,Ben i think was the character name and such a sweetheart of a kid and then the second is the character, Adam the very tall blonde kid was such a gentleman. The rest were all young amazing actors.

John was so great in this movie. Got to say hello to him at the party and he greeted me with a big hug as he did most people that went up to meet him. These are the kind of actors like John that more of these tv movies need to make them more real and believable.

I am rewatching the film for a second time now and am liking it just as much as the first.

... End of line.

This movie relates somewhat to where I work at. The students here are ones who dropped out for one reason or another, homeless, mental, emotional, and other problems, and kids who just need to finish their educations and get a trade to support themselves and get a leg up on life. I also have subbed in special ed classes and the kids I saw were typical of special ed back in the early 90's and late 80's.Nowadays for the most part they would be further segrated into IQ's nimbers, emotional, physical (in a few cases), and mental problems. In those classes I saw the gamut of abilities but someone in some subject shone as to intelligence, savant, and brightness. The kids did very well in this. There have been several Down's Syndrome actors on TV. Down's can run the gamut of IQ from no IQ to near normal around 90 IQ. An episode showing this was shown on "Life Goes On" where Corky is mainstreamed yet a friend of his is not.
