Set Up

OK, I know Ernie is a good guy, and he does good stuff for little money. But, really. It's obvious that some of this stuff is set up. On one of the episodes in New Orleans, it was plain that Neal had deliberately left the cage door ajar, and placed it so the door would open and the animal would escape, so they would have to catch it again. Also, some of these animals shouldn't be where they find them, like the snake on the ladder in the amusement park. Some snakes can climb; but a ladder on a ride in an amusement park, at night? Also, in a recent episode, they went to find a peacock at a Renn Fair. Really? There was no one at the Renn Fair, including the peacock's owner, who wouldn't be able to find it? Plus, when they were in the building to catch the peacock, it looked like someone literally threw the bird into the place for them to catch. Like I said, I'm sure that Ernie means well; but it's clear that he's told to ham it up, and that some of the animals are put in situations where it only appears that they are a nuisance, so they can be caught. That borders on animal harassment. I know, I know, if I don't like it, why am I watching it? Good question. Because when the show started, it wasn't so over the top. I keep hoping that the show will go back to that; but, the ratings have proved otherwise, so I guess I'm SOL.

I agree. I just noticed it with the Burmese python episode. It was obvious Wildman wasn't really being squeezed but it was a good acting job.

His specialty is, I assume, turtles. As I recall, season 1, mainly....turtles. BUT...greedy network needs to milk it , so, they fabricate a bunch of other critter encounters in an attempt to keep it fresh. My guess, at least.

Now, we have the new "bimbo" on the show wanting to join the team; I sense a jump the shark moment.
