Affecting!

Thank you for this film! It had a lasting impression after the curtain draws... I love the scenes with Abu in his old neighborhood while they were drinking beer.

I am a white, middle class, educated, male and have not the experience of living Abu's type of life. However, being down and out at 50, I did spend a lot of time on the other side of the tracks, in the black neighborhood looking for answers. The burning barrel and the life stories were affecting and poignant.

The film was so realistic. I felt like I was back at the burning barrel, dominoes cracking onto and old worn out picnic bench, so drawn in to the lives of those that have only lived among poverty, drugs and crime. After circumstances of living take their toll in this culture, lonely introspection is often lingering till the end. Try we may through community, all of us are on a solitary path to death. Each will meet it in the end if we are lucky. I think Abu was fortunate to have the opportunity for one last journey in quiet contemplation.
