Instant Classic

sharedefinitely had some good old Cronenberg momentums in it :)
I agree with the above poster. It had moments where I felt like I was watching David Cronenberg
As for whether its an instant classic, no. It has a possibility of becoming a cult* classic though if his work matures a bit.
Yeah, it has a lot of the old style Cronenberg themes. It's interesting to see a new Cronenberg taking over in the field his dad almost invented. I'm more interested in seeing how his work grows over time though.
shareAbsolutely. Recalls some of the best aspects of Cronenberg's early work, yet also explores some really interesting sci-fi themes connected with a much more recent understanding of the cult of celebrity.
I think that final scene is almost like a sick joke; a twisted punchline to the whole movie - and I loved it!
A friend wasn't quite as enamoured as I was (since personally I think it's the best film of that year) because of the closed-in character of the protagonist. But I think there's a good excuse for that. He constantly acts like people feel when they are unwell, which considering he's constantly infecting himself with diseases, shouldn't seem so surprising.
I was reminded of David Cronenberg's "Videodrome", but to be honest, as much as I love 'Videodrome' I thought "Antiviral" was better.
