I have read the novel. Just wondering how the topless scene by Annie in the beginning of the novel is filmed in the movie. I feel the scene was vital to exploring Annie's state of mind and how she handles herself under unexpected pressure situations in the novel (like she may still not be able to make important decisions by herself and concerned about what others may think etc.)

To those who have seen the movie can you answer if the scene is filmed strategically in the movie or does Kidman gets topless for the scene?

According to summary page at dubai film festival, it has 15+ rating and mentions adult themes and adult references. Therefore, it is easy to assume that the scene in question was filmed differently from the book. I doubt any nudity is involved.

Only her back is shown topless in this scene. From the front, we see her from the shoulders up.

You don't see anything and the scene falls kind of flat. Don't expect much.

Imho the movie really shows really well what you write here - awesome acting by nicole kidman (whom I'm not always a fan of).
