Bateman is becoming a good director

Delicate and carefully considered, The Family Fang officially proves Jason Bateman is a filmmaker to watch for in the years-to-come. An observant, thoughtful little family drama that’s filled with melancholy, dark humor and restraint, his sophomore feature behind his promising directorial debut, 2013’s pretty good Bad Words, demonstrates the Arrested Development actor is an arresting, patient director in his own right. Somber without getting drab, and touching without becoming sappy, it’s a mature, well-worn film from a filmmaker that only continues to get stronger over time. And while it’s not without some bumpiness and rough patches, it demonstrates Bateman is an actor-director with some bite: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/the-family-fang/

His sophomore effort is better than the first, unlike the character he portrayed. Although I do see some divisive opinions.

His sophomore effort

This isn't the second time he's directed.

The pacing of the film is horrible, the casting is worse (Kidman is just wrong, but present-day Fangs are all way too old). There's nothing for Bateman to be proud about other than: it's better than a zack Snyder film.
