'Cool Runnings' rip-off?

I read the premise and it sounds as if it's already been done with the late, great John Candy.

Did they not think we'd realize?

It's based on a true story, how can it be a ripoff.

So was 'Cool Runnings'. Why do a similar film with similar circumstances? What's the point of that?

There's been a lot of movies following the same basic structure. No idea what the first might be. The first I remember seeing was The Bad News Bears. The 1976 one with Walter Matthau.

That's like saying every action movie where the hero saves the day is a ripoff of any other action movie that came before it.
