I'm glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed

Wow, I heard such great things about this movie & it got such great reviews. Naturally I was expecting it to be really good. I didn't even understand the point of the movie because I was nothing but confused the entire time. All the crazy stuff going on in her memories, personality islands, the imaginary friend, the dream sequences.. I was completely lost for 2/3 of the movie. I know my son was too because he kept asking questions the whole time, and I just didn't know the answers to any of it. And yeah it was kinda depressing and not entertaining or funny like you'd expect from Disney/Pixar. Intriguing premise but poorly executed. Disappointing.
