Was I the only one who couldn't stand Joy??

She was frigging annoying, controlling, and constantly caused more problems, or maybe i'm not a joyful person so cant relate to her lol she was my least favourite character.

guess its just me then lol

I have Joy ranked as the second worst Pixar protagonist. She starts off incredibly annoying, but gets slightly more likable near the end, unlike Merida from Brave.

reply

Haha. Merida is a fine example, cause she's freaking annoying on her own terms. But at least Joy was more tolerable than Merida

reply

I didn't care for her much, either and for such a 'joy'ful person she was actually quite cruel to Sadness throughout the entire film (until the very end).

I am on the road less traveled...

reply

That was kind of the point of the character. Kudos for paying attention.

reply

That was the point of Joy. She did get better at the end.

reply

Joy was annoying, but it was her purpose. It was her purpose to be over the top happy-go-lucky. She was annoying, but she learned her arc.

reply

It is clear that she meant well though and wanted Riley to be happy.
But yeah, she had to learn a lesson about what Sadness's purpose was.

reply

Riley had far too much Joy. Joy also needed to learn Sadness's role as well, and how Sadness could be positive, too.

reply

However, she needed Joy to function too.
It is really interesting that Joy and Sadness got lost at the same, because it means that Riley couldn't be glad or sad until they came back.
