Poster, trailer, problem

If % of the scenes at present and past represent actual movie, that will be the reason of it's failure.
Even the poster shows 50-50.

C'mon! Nobody cares what's happening at present. AC fans care about historical places, assassins, assassinations, templars...

I'm a huge AC fan (I even have the AC insignia tattooed on my left Arm) and i'm very happy that they have chosen to focus more on the modern time with Abstergo.

Me too, the last 4 games in the franchise, though fun, never reached the same levels as the games that put emphasis on the modern-day.

I'm not an Assassains Creed fan by any means, I've only played Bloodlines on the psp. So just coming from a movie fan, I': strongly say I'd be much more interested if it was mostly in the past, even if it isn't just like the games.

I'm AC fan, and I care about what's happening in present.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Assassin's Creed has always been about the Present modern day story. The past sequences are merely educational investigations that cannot be changed and only observed. The modern day setting is the real story here, and the past simply helps to accommodate the present by finding the whereabouts of the pieces of Eden around the world.

Assassin's and Templars diving into the past, to figure out the present and future. That's what Assassin's Creed is about. Make no mistake the modern day setting is far more important to the series plot line. It is the only one that is on going and can be changed, unlike the past.

The modern day was awesome in the first games (while Desmond story contrinued), it's true, but I also find modern days in Black Flag and Rogue pretty amazing as well. I mean, it actually expands the AC universe, Black Flag with all this Sage/John/Aita stuff, and Rogue with taking you to the opposite side, Templars, and make you to understand that Assassin's belief also might be flawed.

The point of AC is to combine modern day sci-fi stuff with historic action one. It's what makes this game series outstanding. Modern day was truly not so great, if not to say bad in the latest games, Unity and Syndicate, but it doesn't say that you can't make a great story set in there, like they're gonna do in this film.

Nolan, I love you forever!

That's a laugh... :)

You're funny mate. Not only have I played all the games, but I own all of them on PC, which I have played several times each on maximum settings and subtitles enabled. That being said I also own the comics, books, merchandise, figurines, soundtracks, clothing, and posters. I have also spoken to the developers of Assassin's Creed as well as the members of the community. I have spoken to Azaïzia Aymar (writer) and Andrien Gbinigie (Head of Community). I have cosplayed as Ezio in several occasions for the past few years.

Any questions?

I have met and made several friends among the years of playing the series, and let me tell you. Most 'true' fans do not share your opinion. True fans not only appreciate the modern day story, but they respect it.

As said before, as much as the past segments are important, educational, and fun to play and free roam, it is all simply to 'investigate' for the purpose of the modern day setting. The real story here is the modern present day. This is the story that is actually progressing through the series, literally from day 1 when Assassin's Creed was first released in 2007. The past has already happened, and can only be 'observed,' not to be 'altered' or 'changed.' as that is impossible and clear through the series.

Interesting question,

Okay, at first yes. It bothered me because the first 5 games had the original Abstergo Animus and Animus 2.0 which were different. That being said, in AC4 and so on, they became headsets, VR experiences, and no longer a bedding system.

Also, I read about what the director and Fassbinder said about it. They didn't want to film a man lying on a platform, as that would be boring to watch as a viewer, and instead they wanted to make the visual experience more interactive and have the bleeding effect contribute to it. That being said, previous movies like The Matrix and Avatar already had the bedding method and the director wanted to have something original and creative for the Movie. Something that we haven't seen before, hence its creation. Ubisoft not only approved of this, but suggested future games might even include the claw mechanic.

So yes at first I wasn't a big fan, but after looking into it, I think I'll give it a chance and see how it's done. After all, games and movies are different and are executed differently. I won't be too quick to judge.

Gameplaywise it's understandable why most of the games take place in the past.

Storywise it make sense that the movie takes place in modern times.

Some BODY once told me.

The modern part is very important to the franchise if ever played a single AC game you that the modern part is just as important as the past part.

I'm a hardcore fan and I love the the modern an past part both very much.

The animus gimmick was always lame and the series would have been better without it

reply

It was so annoying in the games that they kept pulling me out of the animus. I was like "No, not that *beep* again. Let me get back to being awesome assassin again."

Though since it's a movie not a game it could work if they manage to make it interesting enough.
