Bubbly hot air visual effect

I'm pretty pumped for this movie so I've watched the new trailer like 10 times. I've noticed a strange visual effect and I was wondering if it's just me, what your thoughts are, etc etc.

It's only in the shots that take place in the past so I think it's intentional. It can most easily be seen at 1:27 when some assassins jump onto a rooftop and at 1:44 when Aguilar jumps onto the wagon.

Maybe it's Kurzel's way of showing that the scenes are, in the movie, simulations/recreations of events, not the actual events?

Maybe they did some, I don't know, climatic research, and that's what they did find out? They try to be as real as possible, even with past-time sequences (they've even erased the tower from which he was making a leap of faith from the first trailer, because it wasn't fully constructed in the time when movie take place, so Aguilar is now jumping from the scaffolding).

The only thing I've really noticed, on 1:44, when Aguilar jumps on the wagon, is the unnatural way of his legs' movements. You can even make a gif with that moment and, repeating, it would be similar to dancing more than actual jumping. I hope they'll fix this little unpleasantness, or cut out at all.

Nolan, I love you forever!

The tower is still there towards the end of the second trailer. We know he's going into the animus multiple times so that gives opportunity for various viewpoints, which they seem to be utilizing. The scaffolding he leaps from is adjacent to a new building that's featured in the eagle shot, so it's entirely new.

Aguilar is jumping from off his horse onto the wagon. I can't really tell if anything looks unnatural

Yes it appears there at least two big leaps of faith in the movie. I hope they don't feel similar. If you're interested in seeing the effect I was talking about: with YouTube's slowdown function you can see it clearly.

I left a comment below about the effect and use of smoke rigs

Yeah, you're right about the tower.

I was talking about the different shot. This one: http://i.imgur.com/h3dMXDK.gif
There's a small movement by his legs at the end of the gif, truly like some bug in a game. I understand that it's a 3D-model of Aguilar that they've used in this shot, not the actual actor, because Fassbender couldn't make such an ankward move in the air.

Nolan, I love you forever!

I think that's just him bracing for impact as he brings his legs forward

Kurzel enjoys using the smoke rig and that effect. It's appropriated used I think, when there's a dusty, sandy environment or where there's fire, or a smoke bomb. In aerial shots you always see cloudy patcheds too. It adds to the feel of the historical scenes
