was the apple indestructible?

Because I can't see letting it exist when it serves no purpose except for evil to take the info and do evil deeds.

My counter argument is that I'm offended.

Apparently, in the games, it is explained that a solar flare hit the Earth, killing most of its initial population, but the various Apples of Eden weren't destroyed from the blast.

So yeah, I'd think they're supposed to be indestructible in the series canon.

At least as far as in this story is concerned, it's 4000 years old and hasn't aged a day. Time destroys anything that is destructible.

It is more or less indestructible, but it won't let anyone destroy it anyway, kinda like, in LOTR, the king's son lacked the willpower to destroy the Ring. And strictly speaking the Apple is not evil, it is an infinite source of knowledge ; Altair used it for selfless purposes after he became Mentor of the Assassins. Its power is merely so great that it tends to corrupt men whose hearts and minds aren't completely pure. Hence the name, it mirrors the eponymous biblical sin of temptation through which humans gained awareness and autonomy at the cost of having to suffer through hardships and risking to fall prey to negative feelings like greed and hate.
