Probably the game adaptation the took most seriously.

Almost every game movie feels like some tongue-in-cheek by-product, where it feels like they KNOW they are adapting some silly quarter-chomper and so the action must obviously reflect it, or at most they'll get it most superficially and make a parade of popular characters/moves/etc... out of it, which is neither a good movie nor a good adaptation.
This is one of the few movies which, i think, feels like a movie in its own right, and clearly had a TON of effort put into it. The cast, the production, everything, you can tell they took it seriously and actually wanted to make a proper film instead of a quick cash-in.
Maybe this is where the VG-movie industry matures? (I like the RE movies, but please, those have each time less and less to do with the games, and are little more than a beat-em-up with zombies...albeit a fun one)

I absolutely agree. The amount of work and dedication that went into this film is astounding, and it's clear that the filmmakers are just as much fans of this franchise as the gamers are. They really made sure to take it seriously and make it along the lines of a Modern Epic, a la The Lord of the Rings. Granted, it wasn't as good as LotR and they need to fix the character development issues... but I think they could achieve that level of Epic in the next couple of films.

Yes! Everything they have to do is to hire new, good screenwriters, and expand the runtime on something like half a hour. But they MUST keep the director and actors (Fassbender and Cotillard) for the next chapters.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Exactly!! And hopefully if they do release the Director's Cut on Bluray and people like it, they will realize they should let the film be as long as it needs to. Thankfully, Fassy is basically an uber AC fan at this point and has stated that he and the other filmmakers already began pre-production on the next two films while shooting this one. So I'm not worried about him not doing the next one, and if he does it, Kurzel and Cotillard will likely follow. They've got a real family dynamic going on in real life.

I liked it too. I'm not very familiar with the games but I would think the action is the main sell and I think they did a fantastic job with those scenes. Script wasn't much but that begs the question when it comes to video game films, do you want something that equals the game as far as storytelling or are people looking for something way more in depth?

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.
