Assassin's Creed: The Series?

I am a fan of the games - up to ACIII at least. I also really enjoyed the movie and hope for a sequel to dig further in the past.

That being said, I understand how an audience not familiar with the game might not enjoy it as much - or could even get lost in the narrative. There was so much information to give to the audience to explain what is going on, there wasn't much time for character development.

So after I finished watching the movie, I couldn't help but think this would have made an excellent mini-series (think NetFlix or HBO) where they would not be rushed with explaining the science of the Animus and the present day "parent plot", and have more screen time in the past.

I envisioned it as a hybrid between Highlander and Quantum Leap (this part mainly due to the games being in different time periods).

Each season (10-13 episodes as needed) could focus on one time period and the overall story arc of the series would be to obtain the Apple of Eden and/or prepare for a present-day war between the Assassin's and Templars. Each season would have an arc within its time period just as the games did - with a different ancestor to embody; either looking for clues to the Apple, or learning some other knowledge to combat the Templars.

This would also allow less jump-cuts to the present and let an episode or two be entirely in the past without interruptions, unless necessary to the plot.

Again, I enjoyed the movie and look forward to a sequel. I think Fassbender did a great job and was pleased in his genuine interest in the movie for its subject matter.

Anyone else think this would make a great series?

You didn't like AC IV? To me, that's way better than the boring III. Pirates are fun, native Americans, not so much. Maybe I'd like it better if I was American.

reply

Both 3 and 4 were good, although Connor was a bit boring, but that's mostly due to poor voice work.

Thing is I just doesn't feel the American Civil War. And let's not forget the hours upon hours of non-game gaming before the story really starts. But sure, it's still an AC game and not even near the worst one.

reply

Dude, I hope you're not American. Because I'm not and even I know that it wasn't the Civil war portrayed in the game, but the Revolutionary war.

So the feel is spot on.

reply

My bad. Of course I meant the Revolutionary War. The Civil was North and South. But yeah, I'm not American. But my point stand, I don't feel the setting.
