I did NOT see that last minute coming!!! Mom?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It makes sense though but now I'm going to have to go back and watch the entire season all over.
I must admit that was a damn shocking twist! I'm sure some people saw that coming, but I was totally floored by those last 10 seconds. I kind of feel a little silly in retrospect because looking back, I can remember those subtle hints now and should have pieced it together. Oh well.
The only problem is that the whole episode builds up to that final moment and then just cuts off. What a cliffhanger though! Two seasons running now. Shame it will be almost a year until we find out what happens. At least they got renewed, haha.
I have to admit I was actually NOT SHOCKED. I had figured it out once I saw that she was being kept in chains. The way the she spoke to the Sultan's son about war and her chains, and thinking back in hindsight about the way she figured out about the Pope and Lucretia's father... it was all very clever and spoken in the way that reminded me EXACTLY of the way The Sons of Mithras spoke (sort of in riddles, with double meanings... yet with clear understanding of the greater picture).
But seeing as how I didn't figure it out until half way through this episode, it wasn't really much of a feat. I mean, they obviously wanted to reveal the twist this episode, so... IMO the whole ship scene with the mother was a case of foreshadowing (that I happened to pick up on).
I would have only felt some pride had I figured this out during the episode where we first saw her character. Oh well. Very cool though. Enjoyed the way it all tied up with Da Vinci joining up with Lorenzo, Sixtus, and everyone right when he was needed at the port of Naples. By the end I was wishing season 3 was here already.
