Ft. Bliss

I used to live near Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. I used to go to Logan Heights to visit friends, I can't believe there's a tv thow about it!

reply

It's not a tv show. It's a movie and it looks extremely depressing and disturbing. I don't think I'll be able to watch it.

I just saw this advertised on the IMDB front page when I logged in. I don't think it looks as depressing and 'disturbing' at all. It does look more like a 'made for tv' type of movie, but I like Michelle monaghan and ron livingston, so I'll give it a chance.

There's another military movie coming out soon, I think, about a female soldier in gitmo. Now that one DOES look disturbing and depressing - could you be thinking of that one?

reply

No, I'm talking about this one. The reason I don't think I could handle it is because of the dramatic dysfunction in the relationship with her child. Maybe I'm just extra sensitive but my relationship with my mom was good until the age of 5 then it started going to hell and it's a great source of pain to me. Child-parent drama just really hits close to home for me especially when it is graphically depicted as it is in this trailer. Another movie I can't handle is 'The Deep End of the Ocean' with Michelle Pfeifer. The painful dissolution of the Mother-Son relationship in that movie is too much for me to handle.

I get it. And thank you for your service!

a whole 3 years? talk to someone about it after doing 21 years like my husband..smn

I was at Ft. Bliss for a few months back in 1993. I was in the Army doing some training there.

After all these years I'd never imagine there would be a movie named after it. And I didn't think I'd ever hear the name Logan Heights after 20 years.

reply

Oh you would be surprised how many movies they would make around bases. I lived in Fort Bliss for nine yrs almost before my husband got stationed to fort hood which surprisingly is now center attention for other reasons not so good. We have been in the news more times then I can count and people always visit here that are famouss. Now I'm sure somebody will find a loop hole to make a movie out of others sufferings before we will even have a chance to recover

reply

I think I speak for every enlisted man stationed at that terrible place when I say *beep* Ft Bliss and the senior officers who run that god-forsaken post.

reply

You could probably say that about every post in the army. I've never been to Bliss but I would say the same thing about Ft. Sill. I hear Bliss has a nice PX though. The one at Sill is ghetto. Lol.

And if u call for me, this frozen sea, it melts beneath me

reply

Oh that is so true. I went to Ft Sill for a weekend for my husbands graduation from one of the Sgt schools their, I was so bored after the ceremony but the hotel was already paid for & we were staying for 3 days. They do need some serious upgrading their. Yes the new PX is huge in Ft Bliss. When I visit family I saw it. They are also rebuilding our PX here just like theres. Suppose to be ready by August

reply

SigHeil Dan, you definitely do not speak for every enlisted man at Ft Bliss.
