Maggie's New Boyfriend.

SPOILERS.

First, i want to say that this is a great Flick. No CGI Blockbuster-Fest, just a drama trying to keep it real depicting ordinary people.

Now Maggie's new boyfriend the foreign guy was useless to the story. I could be wrong but it almost seems like they only gave Maggie a new boyfriend to make it clear to the viewers that she wasn't a lesbian, a lot of women in the army in real life probably get labelled as being gay simply because they're in the army, so the makers of this Movie may have not wanted the audience to think the same thing about this main female character, we know that Maggie had a son and was married, but recognise the word "was", she could have turned gay, and the movie just didn't want that to be the case, like i said i could be wrong, this is just an observation. Bottom line the new boyfriend added no significance to the script.


