Cover Spoils the Movie

Who was the genius that put the killer on the cover when the movie holds on to that information and uses it as a twist ending?!

reply

I know!!! have no idea why they did that. Lucky for me this was a rental through the mail and it didn't come with the cover. I'd seen it before but didn't pay attention.

*Common sense is not so common

idiotic distributor chose without consulting filmmakers... i guess they though a chick with a knife was more important than not giving away the movie.

reply

To be honest I didn't pay enough attention to the cover luckily. But it's indeed pretty stupid of the makers. Really spoiler heavy cover.

Back when the casting for the film was announced, I remember Caitriona Balfe being announced as playing the Andie the stalker. I think this was on one of the entertainment sites like Bloody-Disgusting or something.

I don't know -- it's like they didn't know how to promote this film. One second they are trying to sell it as Crystal Reed being an obsessed crazy bitch, but then they release the plot synopsis on their official site making it to be a whodunnit. But then they spoil it on the poster and officially announce the actress playing the bad guy? Haha!

reply

It's crazy they did this but lucky for me I didn't even put that together and I blind bought the Blu-ray. The girl looks enough like Crystal Reed that I had just assumed it was her on the cover. I figured the killer was going to be Jeffrey.

you see the twist coming from the start due to the poster . . . what an excellent idea: "lets trough away the main plot on the movie poster!" lol...

Haha - that's a great question. I always wonder who and why they put the MAJOR spoiler on the cover. That kills the entire movie without watching it. Luckily I saw the movie online first before purchasing the DVD. But still... -_-

Ummm.....actually I glanced at the cover and wondered whether she was a 'bad' guy or just trying to defend herself. I had no idea whether she was the killer or not.

But coming to imdb, in the top few posts I see something that says "Cover spoils the movie". Those four words seared straight into my brain and it was too late to turn back. In other words, the cover isn't a giveaway unless someone tells you the cover is a give away.

I can only blame myself.

reply

I agree.

The cover spoils the movie, but only if you know about it...

I bought it, didn't know about Crystal Reed, didn't pay attention to the cover... so the twist was a surprise for me.

Stupid me, right? Hahahaha!
