Because otherwise the movie wouldn't have gone anywhere. The cops would have followed the driver, found his address using his license plate, and caught him. End of story.
shareI agree with you except that his car is probably not registered to that address. The house was obviously not occupied; there was no evidence of anyone actually living there. He used it as a hideaway to commit his crimes. (Yes, I know he used the street name in the convo with the mobile service provider; either he lives in another house on the same street, or that's a plot hole, because he was clearly not actually living in that house.)
