Most Americans have no appreciation for dark comedies

Which is why this wasn't widely released. Which is a bleeding shame as it was a fun movie. But everyone's got their panties in a wad about gun violence so I'm sure an irreverent, violent comedy like this flew under the radar.

Evidently. This is going to be a cult film just like Mr. Rockwell's genius turn in Galaxy Quest, where he stole all his scenes from a really great acting team. I realize there are some shortcomings in this film, of course, but all together it is pretty cool and I think Sam and Anna are wonderful.

FUN FILM, and too bad we are in the midst of some sort of nutty return to the Old West. Whatever; things tend to work out in the end and this film will be a cult fav in 20 years or so.

If by fun and cult classic, you really mean stupid and poorly written and a waste of acting talent for both Ms Kendrick and Mr Rockwall, I would agree. Cheerio (and by that I'm referring to the cereal)

This movie was not fun or funny. Just really bad. Which is why this wasn't widely released.

I agree that dark comedies are currently unappreciated in the US. I don't think it's about the guns or violence but rather about a languishing genre. I simply think the mass market doesn't recognize the category anymore. The premise, script, performances, and chemistry between the protagonists were all so delightful.

Deadpool and Ash vs the Evil Dead seems to be doing okay.

Not a dark comedy though
