One of the funnier films I've seen in awhile. Those scenes with Richie, Bruce, Von and Johnny were stellar. Some memorable characters, that's for sure!

Agreed! Movie really funny and Sam looks great for his age!

I loved this movie!

Judging by the rating I didn't expect this to be half as good or unique. It's at least an 8 for me. I think this was my fav movie I've seen this year.

reply

Agreed.
Its a shame it got so little attention.

I thought it was absolutely great and one of my new favorites, but I somehow understand how some wouldn't like it. The sense of humor is right in my wheelhouse of quirk with dry sarcasm and situational irony mixed in, but some people just don't find appeal in that type of thing. The critic summary on rotten tomatoes mentions issues of tonal inconsistency. I guess I could see that not working for some, but frankly, the movie's ability to constantly fluctuate between tones (even within scenes) is a big part of the appeal to me.

The story is solid but nothing groundbreaking, but then it doesn't need to be, as this is clearly a premise and character-driven movie. It really comes down to whether Sam and Anna's characters are lovable or hateable for the viewer and for me, these are two of my favorite characters that I've had the pleasure of watching. I sat there with a big grin on my face for almost the duration of the movie.

I went in with low expectations, wrapping it up on HBO and love every bit of this movie! Sam Rockwell is really likable (first time for me as I usually can't stand his character in movies) & Anna kendrick...despite being a pinch "annoying" with her rants is also spot on and LOVE Anna and Sam's chemistry! Funny, romantic, well directed action scenes...I'd say its a PERFECT Valentine's Day movie that isn't the standard "lovie dovey" fluff.

8/10
