He could have told straight up that his wife was in one of those sleeping pods.
Why didn't he do so?
Because they didn´t trust each other, they were "friends" because they were the only awaken human beings, maybe in the real world they could have hated each other. And once the chain of events were on the run they didn´t have enough time to chat. IMO. But at the end *spoilers* none of them were evil, they were just trying to carry on with their past, and none of their pasts were enough to erradicate (maybe) human beings from earth, even Bauer knew that fact.
