Damons Career Ends in 2017

In about 5 years when Matt Damon is wondering what happened to his career.

Here are the answers:

The Informant (leftwing propaganda)
Green Zone (leftwing propaganda)
Promised Land (leftwing propaganda
Elysium (leftwing propaganda)

No one wants to pay 10-12 bucks to see some fat old liberal jam his politics down their throat.

reply

You haven't even seen Promised Land!

reply

Well the leftwing (and the rest of the WORLD) wouldn't mind to continue paying for it. Which I will. So his career should be fine well past 2017. You political hack.

There. It's on the Internet. Thus it's official

reply

I agree -- I love leftist propaganda and will be buying it on DVD too.

oh wait, that's right. Off you go.

reply

I always get a kick out of people using the word propaganda incorrectly.

reply

How exactly was The Informant propaganda????

reply

Exactly! How on earth does someone classify that film in any political context? It's a humorous character study that makes no attempt to make a political statement and is really just a good excuse for Damon to portray a character in a comedic capacity and I have to say he succeeded; that film is pretty good almost solely because Damon is hilarious in it.

In the motions and the things that you say...it all will fall, fall right into place.

reply

Not to mention that The Informant was based on a true story and that the guy he portrayed was apparently just like he portrayed him.

reply

Gosh what made you such an embittered and critical person, StratBoy? Very revealing post. Not in a good way.

You must have an IQ of about 50

>The Informant (leftwing propaganda)

In what way do you construe this as leftwing propaganda??

reply

Plenty of people make a nice living doing political films. It's when you do a blockbuster that's safe and inoffensive and STILL tanks, that's when you have a problem...

I'd happily pay 10-12 bucks to see a well-written original story on an interesting topic. I don't much care about the politics of it, as long as it makes internal sense.

The problem with most political debate these days is that it's too partisan toward party lines - in order for a person to have conviction in their beliefs, they believe that they have to make their opponents look like screaming idiots. If you have to make jibes about a person's weight and age, then it shows you don't want to talk intelligently about the subject.

I disagree with a few of your points, and there are other things to take away from some of his movies that rise above political agendas (some are actually pretty good, and make sense, and aren't necessarily a "left," or "right" wing issue.

However, your main point is most definitely true about Damon's clear left-wing stance that oozes through everything he does: whether it be satire through portraying "anti-left wing" ideas in his characters; the overall message the movie conveys; and the "real" Matt Damon out of character, promoting his films, popping off at the ballwasher about how evil American policies are, and how there is so much income inequality, and corporations, and wealthy people are responsible and need to pay more taxes (so much hypocrisy in this - we'll get to this later, though - I'll stick to OP's main point in next paragraph). Matt Damon comes off as uber douchey in real life, and has that typical elitism aura about him - that being rich, and being 100% "for profit" is ok when it comes to him; but he can lecture those who he believes are morally inferior, or intellectually inferior to him (when the dude is just a *beep* actor and has no reason to believe this).

I did thoroughly enjoy the movie "The Informant;" I found the character he portrayed was so funny as *beep*. And I don't think corruption, and theft is an issue that directly related to left or right wing politics, but both equally. It's just an issue that rises above it. BUT, there was definitely a satirical take, and harsh stab on corporate influence in America, and corporations, which is definitely a "right wing" thing.

Promised Land was straight liberal garbage along the likes of the "Gasland" documentaries. Straight propaganda that's one-sided and twisted. And they try to use the guise of small town "country bumpkin" people who overwhelmingly vote Republican. It's like "see! even these intellectually inferior, gun-toting, clsoe-minded, bible-toting small town bumpkins agree with us! EVIL CORPORATIONS! Blah, blah, blah...." The type of people they normally look down their noses at, are "one our side."

The truth is that conservation of nature is neither a right nor left issue... But they make out fracking to be the worst thing; and these heartless Republicans want to kill all the cute little animals in the name of a buck... When in reality, YES, there are some complications that can arise from fracking, but overall, when done correctly without taking shortcuts, or trying to cut down on time, and money, it's very safe.

Elysium just absolutely REEKS of *beep* egalitarian, feel-good, liberal... no sorry, LIB-TARDED rubbish. Haha the funny thing is, though, is that unintentionally, the movie was pro-libertarian, and all about self-reliance, and hhow the majority will have to lie on a minority to help save them. But obviously by making Jodie Foster a cold-heart-ed bitch as a representation of all "republicans," or more accurately "libertarians." And how they don't even care about humanity over their massive material wealth they've stockpiled and hidden on their own "planet." hHrhsuch over the top rubbish in their feeble attempts to smear the libertarian ideology...

Quicly addressing the point about Damon's hypocrisy... Why does he have to live on such a large salary? He is exempt from all kinds of taxes, and has a net worth of 75 million dollars! Why the *beep* does any human being need 75 million dollars? Personally, I have no issue with how munch somebody makes, as long as they do it honestly... But Damon clearly does.. Why doesn't he have a problem with people paying *beep* 10-15 bucks to see his movies?

Why can't he live off of a salary of *beep* even say, 200k, still well, well, well above what the average american - hell entire american family - lives on.. And donate the rest to all these struggling people, and/or charities in their communities. You realize how many people he could help by donating that much off his movies?!? Let's say he makes two movies a year, and Matt Damon being a top A-lister, demands 10-20 million a movie, and probably has options to take less up front in exchange for percentage of box-office receipts - so he could easily make 50 million for a movie.. BUt let's say on average he makes 40 million a year... *beep*, let's say he even keeps ONE MILLION a year of it to live off of and start saving for retirement (LOL, you'd have completed your retirement savings in one year!) Then distribute that 39 million all across the country to poor people, and charities everywhere... Hell, after 20 years of doing this, he could make a significant dent in the country!!! Yeah, you get the point... Keep on talking *beep* Matt, you hypocritical douche knuckle. He;s got one of those faces that yu just want to punch... And after hearing him talk, makes it so much worse.

I could go on about other movies, but this post is already long enough, and buttresses the main point of the OP (while slightly disagreeing on some aspects).

reply

Haha I expect a lot of "didn't read lol" memes... BUt it's not one huge body of unorganized text - broken down in paragraphs for your reading pleasure.

Essentially my post agrees that Damon tries to spread liberal rubbish, but actually unintentionally conveys libertarian ideology in Elysium. And while the OP is mostly correct, some of the issues in the movies transcends left or right wing ideology, and is about just plain common sense, and morality. But yeah, overwhelming majority all has that snarky, lib-tarded underdone... and in some cases, outright OVERTONE - doesn't even try to be discreet, or subtle.

Thanks! I suggest you read the entire post if you want to rebuff me with your feeble counterpoints!!!

That's all! Thanks!
