What a giant load of horse crap.
This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my whole life. Beyond the fact that it's just boring and weird, it's central premise is horsesh#t.
MISREPRESENTS GUN OWNERSHIP
1) The two people we see that represent "gun culture" is a drunk topless woman in a pool who shoots her gun in the air for no reason and a lesbian woman who uses buying a gun for her scared friend as an excuse to hit on her and try to make out.
2) When the lead character pulls her gun on the guy beating the *beep* out of woman in the street/driveway SHE DID THE RIGHT THING. You most certainly can use your gun to stop a felony assault from taking place. Now, maybe she shouldn't have made the guy get on his knees and all that, but the act of using the threat of her gun to make him stop beating someone is most definitely not illegal.
EDIT: Just happened upon this article. You can read about a similar situation (passerby brandishing weapon to stop assault) in the 10th paragraph.

3) By the end of the film (dare I call it that) the lead character is now part of the "gun culture" and she is going to shoot an "intruder" into a house she is just visiting. This is completely retarded. It's just another straw-man against guns. "Let's put a gun in the hand of a fictional lunatic and then pretend that represents gun culture".
BORING
4) Nothing of any real consequence takes place. This is a "character" driven story with no real character development.
WEIRD
5) Gay Mario character from the video game. Need I say more?
Okay, more:
How about when we hear a conversation about how someone tried to butcher a hog in their living room using donuts for bait and a gun.
