Inside Llewyn DAVIS comparison?

There's a lot of similarities between them, eh?

It really is amazing to look at just how similar the films are

In relation to Brooke and Llewyn

Both have been deeply affected by the death of a loved one.

Both are detached from their fathers.

Both rely on their relationships with their sisters to get by.

Both are musicians who have had one album released that saw moderate success.

Both have the same views on music and don't want to ever change the route they want to take it
(they both let their grief guide their music and career).

Both are friends with other musicians that are starting to see greater success with their music but they both resent said friends because they don't like the way they approach art. Llewyn has Troy, who is seen by the record producers as just an audience friendly musician. Brooke has Spaceface, who is just remixing popular songs into dance songs.

...and then the films themselves

Both films open with the last scene.

Both films' final scenes involve the leads singing a deep meaningful song solo, both relating to their lost loved one.

Both films involve a scene where the leads heckle/bully another musician while they're performing.

…that's all I've got so far.

Really is uncanny. I'd say "Hipster" is the better film.

You can find some similarities; but the contrast between present-day San Diego and NYC a half century ago is fairly stark. There were no characters in ILD like the sisters in this one (who made the movie IMO).

Both seem to be interesting in capturing a bohemian "scene" of an era, one contemporary and one nostalgic. I have to say though that I liked Llewyn's music more.
