June Watson

Love this show and especially June Watson. She is an amazing talent. I had the good fortune to see her in London in the Play "Smaller" with Dawn French and she was absolutely marvelous. In fact she stole the show from Ms French and co-star Alison Moyet which isn't and easy thing to do.

Here's an excerpt from my travel journal form that trip:

>"Smaller" was fantastic! Darkly funny and beautifully and inventively staged the two leads, Dawn French and Allison Moyet are very good but it is June Watson who plays their mother, Maureen who is the real star of this show. She literally steals the piece. She has two thirds of the dialogue in the show (well she is disabled and house bound) talking almost non stop at times. Wonderful to see such acting live. Must see if you can.<

very fond memory.

I agree that Ms. Watson is terrific! As Grandma Mary on "The Cafe," Ms. Watson brings spunk, good common sense, a wonderfully "randy" sense of humor, and an obvious joy for life. She embodies many of the finer qualities which Bob Dylan sang of in his song, "Forever Young."

LOL! I'm watching a repeat of Prime Suspect 2 from around 1992 and Watson is the nasty, bitchy sister & mother of the murderers. She's great as a nasty piece of work. When I looked her up and saw she played the sweet grandmother in the cafe I was rather shocked. I often look up people on IMDB while watching some show. I am forever spotting people in obscure shows and drive people crazy by always saying, "Oh look who that is!"

I loved the Cafe. A lovely slice of life with interesting & very amusing characters. Just a real treat.
