bit confused by the plot,

I was a bit confused by Jack Irish: The Black Tide. I love this show though - Guy Pearce is brilliant, he brings such an ocker style to the role that perfectly fits an Aussie guy trying to make his way in a rough world.

1) Who edited Hansard to remove reference to The Black Tide?
2) Who was it that had the memory card in the end and what where they trying to do with it?
3) Who were the two guys with tatts on the back of their necks (that were found dead in the car at the airport) and who exactly was it that they killed by dumping in the water tank?
4) Who was the third cop who showed up at the end (long hair) who got shot?
5) The two corrupt cops at the end - were they trying to sell the memory card?

1) don't think it was mentioned, just the induction that someone really high up must have been involved for that to happen;
2) Canetti gave it to Wardle (the journalist), and he hid it in the base of the penguins souvenir that he gave to Lyall;
3) they killed Canetti. they were probably just guns-for-hire indirectly working for Levesque, and were killed by others with a more direct connection to Levesque afterward;
4) i believe he was one of the cops involved in the Black Tide operation (you might recall that when Jack visited Canetti's widow, there was a man in the gallery. i think that was him.), and one who was not on the take unlike Ray and his bald colleague;
5) i would think they were trying to retrieve it for Levesque who would most likely destroy it.

The plot is dense and makes you keep your brain turned on so you have to think and helps if you re-read the book and watch the movie again to get it.

It's a poor adaptation of any book that requires one to have read it to make sense of a film/TV show/play etc.
