Complainers aren't thinking straight

Those complaining are really being illogical. The fact is, it's a PILOT. 9 out of 10 pilots suck. The actors and writers are still finding their voice, and trying to set up the whole world and the characters. When you watch a pilot, you watch for POTENTIAL. Where could it go.

I had problems with the Zombieland pilot, too. But I recognize it for what it is. It's a 30 minute pilot based on a movie. In those 30 mins, so many jokes were borrowed from the film (Cardio, Twinkies, Zombie Kill of the Week, etc). This was to establish the tone, and the world.In subsequent episode they would not be able to rely so heavily on the movie....they need to find their own voice.

I see potential here. It's funny enough. It just needs to evolve. The strength in this series is the cast. They do a great job inhabiting the roles without imitating the actors who came before.

This is a solid pilot. The need to evolve (as all series do). I think the # 1 thing the series needs to do is stop leaning on the film and find it's own voice. But that said, I look forward to seeing more.

I personally would have loved to see new characters. Thats my biggest complaint is that they really arent the movie counterparts, but then again as you said it is a pilot the and still has work that will be done or somewhere along those lines.

nope. first of all a lot of pilots are great. they are the reason why good shows get picked up in the first place.

second, the pilot of zombieland is nothing more than just a weak reboot of the film. none of the new version of the movie characters come even close to being equally strong. the nerdy guy, who is kind of the protagonist wasn't such a weak and complete loser in the movie. the young girl has no impact on the TV episode at all. the woody harrison pendant is good and funny and he would have made a great new character, but to replace the dude that harrison played in the movie? not even close. same with the feisty, cute, misanthropic chick. she's very good. doesn't have anything similar to her movie pendant.
