This, Zombieland 2 And The Characters...

I noticed the cast list for the IMDb listing of Zombieland 2 has disappeared. Is this TV series actually going to serve as a replacement for the sequel?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a Zombieland TV series. I'm struggling, however, to understand why this has been selected as the alternative... Did the cast not want to do the sequel? Is it a bigger money maker? Surely fans of the first movie deserve to see the much anticipated sequel.

Another thing I don't understand is why they're using the same characters? I'd imagine it would make more sense to create new characters who inhabit the same zombie infested universe, at least this gives the viewer a chance to build a new relationship with them rather than have to adjust, first, to the idea that these people are merely impersonating the originals - which cannot be a good thing. You can't force Jesse Eisenberg's nervous charm or Woody Harrelson's Twinkie-loving, ass-kicking attitude. Emma Stone & Abigail Breslin, too, were both superb in the movie.

I Agree with you 100%!
I seriously hope this Series is not replacing Zombieland 2! I am a big fan of the first movie and was hoping the cast would remain the same in the sequel. Then I saw this series and by the look from the trailer...it's not half as good. I can appreciate a comic/zombie series, but not with the same characters as in the movie, but as you said, that they can be in the same "universe" as the original characters are. I just think this series are really stupid and will flunk big time only because of the characters, i will give it a shoot of course! but from what i saw in the trailer i am not impressed.

I hope they put this in the trash and put Zombieland 2 in production!!!

As far as I know, I'm afraid it is. Not only is replacing it, also, I heard that the reason the cast and director had for not doing the movie, was that they couldn't find a plot they liked. Basically, they said that the continuation would be so awful, that it would be better not to do it. But then the producers thought that they couldn't put aside the chance of making money, and then did a TV series with the discarded plot for Zombiland 2. Which makes me fear the most for the result...

dude, do not laugh, (in a few decades maybe) i still hope for zombieland 2 (why is there a "e" in zombie btw?!) shytz biased.

in the meantime i'll watch zumbazombiz & cocoonzombiz the reckoning !

I don't remember how long ago this was, I think sometime last year. But, The director of Zombieland announced that at least for the time being, they will not being a sequel. He said the reason is that they could never agree on a script and he would only do it if he got the original cast to come back. But sense that movie, both Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone's careers took off and they just don't have the time. I remember hearing a story that after they finished filming, Woody Harrelson went to the director and said he'd never wanted to make a sequel so badly to one of his movies.
So, at least for now, until they can get a script together and are able to bring back the original cast, a Zombieland 2 movie isn't in our future. Which is sad.
Also, this series just looks awful...

That's a shame - I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels robbed of this movie!

Another thing I don't understand is why Amazon are producing this. Why not a bigger production company that could throw more at a series?

I don't know if it is the case or not - but is this only going to be available on Amazon Instant? Surely that will kill it immediately. Have any other pilots become series as a result of being shown there?

Go watch - judge for yourself...

Gotta be honest, it's not as horrible as I thought it would be! Still weird (same characters). But not horrible.

I agree w you, they should have made new characters. Woody, Jesse, Emma and Abigail made the roles their own and we loved them in those roles. I have no problem with it being a show (as long as it's done well) but you just don't do that.

I think it would have been better if it would have been a tv series with the movie cast which would have been more enjoyable to watch.

Wel there was talk about a Zombieland Project, and people just thought it was Zombieland 2 but it was this show, wich still just have been 1 eppisode..
