It wasn't that bad actually. I was expecting to hate it but it was pretty funny and well written. No where near as good as the film but worth a watch. Cast is good but not sure they were all the nest choices for the roles but they grew on me as the show went on.
I watched the trailer and really liked it. I would watch this tv series but being that this tv series is on Amazon instant video really makes me mad. Why would I pay just to watch one tv series. I wish this tv series was on an actual channel; a basic cable channel would be awesome.
gibsonj338-3, although it is on Amazon instant video, you don't have to pay for it. The pilot episode is free. I thought it was pretty well done. _____________________________ This is the kind of day that almost makes you feel good to be alive.
That's good to know. I've only ever used Netflix so didn't know Amazon's Instant Video worked like that. Guess I'll have to check it out if it's free. Although, like the previous poster, I'm not going to pay for the service just so I can watch one series. Guess I'll have to wait until it comes to home video if I find the pilot adequate enough. lol
Where are we a-going? Planet Ten When are we a-going? ...real soon...
The Amazon Instant Video is not what the millions of people are paying for. There are a ton of people that pay for Amazon Prime, which gives free 2 day shipping on the majority of stuff that is sold through Amazon. As an added bonus, you get free access to Amazon Prime Video. So, it would definitely be weird to pay for Prime just to view this...but if you got Prime to take advantage of all of the benefits (I buy tons of stuff through Amazon) then it is an amazing deal.
That's what is ridiculous to me, if you are not a big Amazon shopper, no Zombieland show for you! What the heck is the connection?
I think tv execs now have no clue how to market and sell their shows to the audience. If they make it hard for me to watch it, I just won't.
And if the trailer showed the best parts of the pilot, no thanks. And 3 bucks an episode? Pfh, I wouldn't even pay 3 bucks to rent a movie.
There is such a loss of connection between these wealthy execs and the general American who lives paycheck to paycheck. It takes me 20 minutes to earn 3 bucks, and they want me to spend that on 20 minutes of tv show? Screw that.
And $17 bucks to see a movie in theaters with uncomfortable 3D glasses and a fake Imax screen? No. That's 2 hours of work again for 1-1/2 hours of a entertainment, and ya know, I need to eat too. And pay for gas, shelter, education, clothing, insurance, utilities, and the mortgage. It would be idiotic to budget your little bit of money to spend it all directly on tv shows and movies. I don't know how so many people are convinced to go into credit card debt just to get these executives/producers a brand new airplane so they don't have rub elbows with us commoners. Just increasing the wealth gap. Truly counter productive and short sighted.
This pilot is widely distributed already in various torrent sites! wink wink... Do yourself a favor and download it and who needs Amazon/Netflix anyway huh?
I watched it, hoping it was going to be a low-budget 'so bad it's good' series. But no it's not. It's a low-budget brain-dead excuse for a zombie comedy, with bad acting, inexcusably bad writing and bad production.
I couldn't sit through the whole thing. Hell, I couldn't sit through the trailer either but some fool suggested that the show was better than the trailer. No it is not. It's worse than the trailer because it's longer.
I truly enjoyed the pilot. The actors were spot on, especially the kid who played Colombus, and it also helps the the writers of the film are writing the show. It was quite funny too, hopefully it gets picked up for a full season.
Spot on? Tallahassee is a rough and tumble redneck and wouldn't be a super polite lunch cart office-peon. The series portrayal of the character is a bumbling idiot instead of a gun-toting badass.
The cast was wooden, and the idea of a former onStar agent being able to direct them to a shopping cart shelter on the side of the road was absolutely horrid. That was the last thing the show should need is a perpetually sweet disembodied voice as a plot compass.
I want the half hour of my life that I spent watching the show back.
There is a rather big difference between the genre of the movie and that of this pilot, and though I agree that everything was made on the cheap, the black humor here is more mature and appeals more to the intellect than the movie did. I'm actually inclined to remember this episode more so than that movie. Once you scratch the surface you see the value. My advice to you is to stop and compare the tempo and the epicness of a large budged movie with a tv series adaptation. This is more in the line of a road theatre play, using the appropriate writing and employing the roughness of the acting to emphasize on the looseness of a simple idea which brings a multilayered dark comic perspective to a otherwise horrid situation. Just because you want a redneck with guns, and dislike that one character, and only that aspect alone, the authors of this little low budged tv series pilot made for a internet bazaar owe you a big ol' *beep* NOTHING back!
I personally felt that the film was a lot a lot better than the tv show since the characters were more interesting and well rounded whereas in the tv version, they seem like a joke.
It was actually said that Kirk Ward, who plays Tallahassee in the show was the ORIGINAL choice for the character in the film. So the writers had Kirk Ward in mind when they were creating this character. Not to say Harrelson was bad, in fact I loved Harrelson's portrayal of the character, but Ward definitely fits the bill in the show.
I was mildly entertained, I didn't think it was horrible. I've seen worse shows. Lol
I just think it needed more intensity and the characters needed more personality. I'm going to check out the next few episodes and see if it gets better.
Horror comedy needs to be as scary as it is funny to really work. The characters also have to be funny people that seem like they've been through hell; they were too perky and acted like they walked off of a Disney TV show set. This wasn't scary and only some scenes were funny.
Well for "Wooden" performances, it was the first episode. I think that is too expected as they have to get into their roles. I though it was alright but I would need to see a few more episodes to really see the quality.
Right off the bat I don't like Wichita. The negative nancy nature of her character just contrasts to the three hopeful individuals. I don't think her character is that sustainable like that.
Little Rock seemed spot on.
Colombus I was surprised by this one. Though I think he needs to look less clean cut.
Kirk Ward is no Woody. The character is slightly different but has the same heart. I liked him.
Basically I don't think Wichita is good for the show. If anything Little Rocks personality fits Colombus moreso then the sister. Her being hot isn't enough for me.
Some of the characterizations are a bit off from the movie but on it's own it wasn't bad. They should have made them new characters in the same universe as the movie to free them of the restraints of the original performances. The opening alone was freaking hilarious though!
