"Our Zombieland series will not be moving forward on Amazon," tweeted writer/producer Rhett Rheese (he also wrote the 2009 movie), before telling the world exactly how he feels: "Sad for everyone involved. I'll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. Anyway, we did our best, and we're very proud of our team."
"Hated it out of existence"?? SO it's the audience's fault for not liking that bulls--t??? I LOVED the movie, but the acting and writing was nowhere close to the level of the movie or nearly any other successful TV show. Don't blame your failure to adapt your own movie on the fans. Suck it up and make the sequel to the movie that we will all still pay our hard earned money on DESPITE that God-awful pilot.
Well said! I like Rhett but the pilot felt like a half assed fan film without any heart. The cast was terrible and the plot became repetitive and predictable.
Had they left those characters behind and started fresh, maybe the show would have had a shot.
It's just obnoxious that he's trying to blame the "fans" for the pile of crap he produced.
The acting was terrible, the actors were terrible, the plot was terrible and it was neither funny, not dramatic...so why the hell should this piece of garbage be going on?
It was obvious that it's gonna be cancelled...cause it was a bad tv show in general...not just a bad zombieland tv show...
Zombieland is just another failed show. So many shows don't make it past the concept stage. Most fail with the pilot. (like this one) The minority may make it past a third season. Only a few shows become legends such as, Gun Smoke, M*A*S*H*, Star Trek, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, NYPD Blue, NCIS. The list goes on and on. Those shows and others like them had something about them that made them great. Not All shows have it.
As for you blaming the fans I say this. Suck it up and move on. You made the show fail. learn from it find out where you went wrong and do better with your future projects. Try making Zombieland 2 using what ever made part one work.
This project is dead and is now in the Graveyard of Cancelled Shows. Let it rest
I try and download every series premier just to see what the state of current entertainment is, and what do I find but a complete gem of hilarity in Zombieland. I watched this premier before I had seen the movie. In fact THE ONLY REASON I watched the movie was because I'd watched this awesome pilot. The opening couple of minutes had me in complete stitches of laughter. I have to say that that the cast, this pilot and just the thought of a repeat experience, was far superior, to the movie. It was funnier. Plain and simple, and it is a sad day when we all lie down and let Amazon accept the will of the regular 'Zombieland' fans, and that is a good description of them now. 'regular'. lower case. regular like the elderly are regular. regular in their thoughts. regular in their vision. regular probably on the toilet. twice a day. What this series is, is AWEZOMBIE. Amazon and us, the fans of NON-REGULAR, Exciting, New entertainment. Entertainment that's Different, Modern, fueled by the mass voices of the oppressed who love 'The Big Bang Theory' to 'Doomsday Preppers", Zombieland deserves its own slot on PRIMETIME TV; with a loyal fan base that will throw out the old, embrace the new with drink in hand, a packet of popcorn, feet up, a willingness to forget the world economy and individual troubles, and simple laugh and embrace all that is good about what the new medium of internet backed TV shows can bring us all. Please Amazon, bring this show back to town.
The movie came out years before the show. The show if you can call it that is a cardboard cut out of the movie. Same characters, different actors (low budget), same running gags/jokes etc... Only of lesser quality and effort.
You may enjoy this but it is clearly a hack effort to cash in on the fame of the movie. It was straight up half-assed and it really shows which is why people have so many complaints (which I think are valid).
Had they taken a similar premise with DIFFERENT characters that had their own unique personalities and such it could have been a great show. Unfortunately that is not the case.
The movie was "new and different entertainment" the show is not.
*beep* this guy. I'm a huge fan of the movie and to blame your fans for not accepting your poor man's version of something great you created? That's pretty insulting to your own fans. What a turd, this guy.
I had been following Zombieland for ages, hoping for a movie sequel. After asking many people what they thought of a tv series with the same characters, but a tv cast The Answer is a Resounding 'NO!' everyone thought it was a stupid idea.
Perhaps some focus groups or discussing the idea with fans of the movie would have been a good idea instead of hatching a moronic idea to turn a great movie into a crap tv show. Don't blame the fans, you wasted time, energy and money on something that was bound to fail. Because of these dick-headed, idiotic comments I'm hoping there never will be a zombieland 2 and that your career goes down the *beep* and you wind up homeless. Douchebag.
