Wanting to slap her ?

I wanted to slap her, as someone else mentioned, for isolating her son and not providing for his future when she knew she was seriously ill.

As for the kid hooking up with the stoner drifter, it left a very bad taste in my mouth. Are we supposed to be happy that he's going to be cared for by some strange man with a questionable history, who never once thought to work with authorities in getting care for the boy? This was too weird for me. If he really cared for the boy he could have kept in touch with him, and perhaps gotten his life together to foster or adopt the boy.
