The Cloth hopefully lives up too the hype

Saw 30 minutes in Cannes and I never had a chance to comment and I saw it is going to theaters overseas first. The effects are definitely where this film shined. I see a lot of potential with it and heard that its part of a trilogy and the director and producers are actually from a major studio experimenting with this as the first installment at a low budget range of 4-10 million.

Why did they try and do a sci-fi movie for under 30 million dollars? I saw Chronicle and they had a difficult time pulling that off with their budget. I 'l withhold judgement till its released.

reply

"I'll" haha ...enough said! but yeh the film looks promising.

Lol, I think the flick has 12-14 reviews now and at least 9 of them are from people writing their first review. Out of those 14 it seems only 3 or 4 are actually legit. It really looks like IMDB might have to set up some kind of screening process for user reviews. Maybe just not letting accounts less than 6-12 months old write these obviously planted garbage.

But you missed the really obvious tell that they were shilling their own crap. You'll note, upon reinspection, that the "good" reviews come from "people" all registered 9 months and 2 weeks ago or 8 months ago with a couple of exceptions of 9 months and 3 weeks and 7 months 3 weeks. All of the bad reviews are from users with mostly longer time as registered users. Strange thing is that a couple of the bad reviews seem to have the whole "stars" thing bassackwards.

As far as IMDB trying to stop shilled reviews . . . well, they know we are smarter than the dummies that do crap movies and post phoney reviews. I know one thing, I'll never PAY to see any movie written by Justin Price!

Which hype? Never heard about it until I (unfortunately) tried to watch it.
By far the worst movie I've seen this year, and I saw The Last Stand. I couldn't
even finish it, that's how bad it was. Only one with ANY acting talents in the
whole movie was Danny Trejo, and he (sadly) wasn't in it for more than a few
minutes. That should indicate the level of acting talent. Scifi's movies have
more talent than these actors. The effects were decent for the budget, but
the whole pathetic try to make it edgy with different slow-motions and arty
layers of colors during certain parts of the movie destroyed a lot of them.

The effects sucked . The movie sucked. The writing sucked. The acting sucked.
Everything that makes a movie a movie sucked. You suck for saying it looked promising. I hope the director sees this, because he sucks.

reply

Funny, when I looked up the Cannes film festivle line up, the cloth was nowhere to be seen. Odd.

The effects are definitely where this film shined.

Seriously?
My first thought while watching this film was: "Wow! These special effects are so 1997."
