Did the dad commit suicide because he felt guilty of what he had just done or realisation that his daughter might be better off without him?
I went with guilt myself or the need to remove the temptation that was in danger of progressing too far (further than it already had). I am not so sure he would've known she would've left without him being there.
shareI think he'd just had enough of the world. Throughout the film his efforts were accompanied by sighs and grunts. He was obviously pretty sick, and physically weak, too, judging by the effort he had to make to get that quite small deer up on to the bench. People often kill themselves in an instant of madness with no thought at all.
