Anyone else think that Onni Tommila looks more Chinese/Mongolian than Finnish? Seems the wrong person person to cast in the role of a boy coming from a long line of Finnish hunters.
He's probably part Laplander (or Sami) which are native to northern Scandinavia and Russia. He's perfectly appropriate for that role, but did look more Lapp than did the other Finns, who looked a bit more Scandinavian.

It did cross my mind about him possibly being of some Asian descent. He had the look.

sharePeople from Lapland tend to have Asian eyes, due to connections to Sami people - the Sami originally came from Siberia. Some of these Lappish people then moved further south and this is why some southern Finns look more Asian.
One of my classmates in elementary school looked a lot like Onni Tommila, even though we lived only 30 kilometers north of Helsinki.
