Couldn't they find an actress for the lead role who looks more like a teenager and less like the mother of a teenager?

It doesn't really matter how old the actress is, she still looks too old for the lead role. There are some 23 year olds who can pull off a teenage role, and some 18 year olds who can't.

I'm finding her believeable and a great actress. The directors had to find a girl who could pull off the maturity needed to pull off something like this, especially in her senior year.
This has to have been hard on her psychologically. Remember -- We're seeing the 'result', something that she didn't see at the time.
I agree, she looks a little old for the role. Although I remember her as kid, so maybe I'm having a little bit of a hard time seeing her in this kind of role. She was good, but too old.

And what exactly was this great "experiment" supposed to prove? I saw this girl on Dr. Phil and she couldn't really explain the point of it there, either. It's rather ridiculous for her to say that she's trying to prove that getting pregnant as a teenager doesn't need to ruin or even affect your life that much. She wasn't actually pregnant and didn't actually have to go through with having a child to care for, so the entire exercise was nothing but a lot of nonsense.
I think she just looks old because we are used to seeing her in kid roles. She just looks mature.

shareOne thing about Alexa is that she has lost the "baby fat" I guess you could call it. Her face looks a lot more defined now. I remember watching her in another Lifetime movie from a few years ago, in which she plays a teenager who is bullied by other students who used to be her friends. In that movie, she was a teenager and she looked like one.

I thought Alexa Vega looked and young enough to play the lead. Alexa has aged a bit in the past couple of years, but she can still pull off playing a teen at this point.

the youngest I could buy her as is 30, but I've seen in her in stuff where she looks at least 35
